Early detection is the key to fighting cancer and we are dedicated to educating the community on cancer prevention methods and risk factors. The Pardee Signature Care Center in the Blue Ridge Mall offers regular physician presentations and cancer screenings throughout the year.
We also offer numerous resources and support groups to patients and their families who may be facing a cancer diagnosis. We partner with UNC Cancer Network to offer a Lunch and Learn Series each month. Lunch and Learn presentations are free, open to the public and are led by representatives from UNC and Pardee on a monthly basis. Cancer screenings are offered throughout the year for prostate cancer, skin cancer, and head, neck and oral cancer. Staff physicians participate in these important screenings and they offer educational presentations to the community. Pardee also partners with the YMCA of Western North Carolina to provide The Livestrong Program, hosted at the YMCA. This is a 12-week program that is provided free of charge to qualified cancer patients.
Look for cancer related seminars, screenings and support groups on our online calendar.
Pardee Rehab & Wellness Center is a certified provider of the STAR (Survivorship Training and Rehab) Program. This comprehensive cancer survivor healing assistance program focuses on patients’ physical and emotional well being.
The STAR Program helps patients optimize their health during medical treatment and recovery – and for some patients, begin a rehabilitation program after medical treatments may have been completed some time ago. The program is designed around evidence-based approaches found successful in orthopedic and cardiac rehabilitation where a team of specially trained professionals surrounds the patient, meeting them where they are on their cancer journey and helping to achieve their goals for recovery.
For more information about the STAR Program at Pardee, call (828) 698-6774.
If radiation therapy is recommended as part of your cancer treatment, a team of highly trained medical professionals will work together to make sure you receive the best possible care. A radiation oncologist, a doctor who specializes in using radiation to treat cancer, leads this team. The Comprehensive Cancer Center at Pardee is proud to have two board-certified radiation oncologists, a licensed registered nurse, board-certified radiation therapists, dosimetrist and medical physicist on staff.
To contact Pardee's Radiation Oncology Department, call (828) 696-1330.
The Comprehensive Cancer Center at Pardee also includes a Cancer Registry, which reports to the National Cancer Data Base (NCDB) and the State Tumor Registry, located in Chicago, IL.
The Cancer Registry is a center for the collection, analysis and organization of cancer data. The information that is collected is used to analyze, outline, control and observe cancer trends. Physicians, hospital administrators, health policy makers and community members use the data. Our intent is that the collection of this data will aid in the research to find a cure for cancer and help save lives.
The registry is also responsible for lifetime follow-up of all patients that are entered into the database, which is achieved through letters to physicians and patients. Information is kept strictly confidential as mandated by the State of North Carolina and the bylaws of Pardee Hospital. The cancer registry at Pardee Hospital complies with HIPAA regulations.
