Do you like to play golf and want to support the Pardee Foundation at the same time?  The 13th Annual Pardee Foundation Tournament of Champions will be held on Monday, May 19th at the Kenmure Country Club. 

This year the proceeds of the tournament will be used to purchase defibrillators for the Emergency Department.  In 2007, $91,000 was raised to purchase vascular surgical equipment.

You can help make the 2008 golf tournament a success by becoming a sponsor.  Sponsorship levels offer many benefits and are in varying levels, ranging from $5,000-$500.  Consider this opportunity as a way to promote your business or to show your support as a Pardee Foundation donor. 

The tournament is always a sell-out, so register early to reserve your space. Golfer spots are $200 each or $800 for a team.

For the first time, the tournament will have a ladies’ division.  Ladies, ask your golfer friends to play in a tournament that’s fun and supports a worthy cause.

Local Artist Donates Painting

Mary Brummett attended her first Women Helping Women event in 2007 with her sister. In the early 1980’s, Mary’s mother learned that she had breast cancer. Her mother took the news about the diagnosis and the need for surgery very calmly. She had a mastectomy and continued to care for Mary’s father, who had Parkinson’s disease.  Her positive attitude and inner strength  helped her to recover. Several years later, Mary’s sister also received a diagnosis of breast cancer. Like their mother, her sister took the news calmly. Her sister, a microbiologist at Pfizer,  studied the latest literature about the diagnosis and treatment. Two women. Two different journeys.

“Anticipating April” is a landscape transitioning from winter bareness to the profusion of color and light of spring. A river runs through the painting, symbolizing the journey of each patient. The river winds around, making one curious about what’s around the bend.  There’s a hint of spring in the green grass and feeling of serenity and comfort.   When asked what feeling Mary wanted to evoke from the painting, she said, “Hope. Spring is hope; April is smiles, tears, rain and sun.”  It sounds a lot like the journey breast cancer patients take.

Mary’s painting will inspire hope in many patients for many years to come. Thank you, Mary, for the painting, your gift of hope.

Annual Donor Reception and

Healthcare Philanthropy Award Presentation

Taken from the history book about Pardee Hospital, the Generations of Excellence Society is a group of donors who believe in the work of the Pardee Foundation and Hospital.  They support this work through their donations of $1,000 or above annually. These funds allow the Foundation to address immediate critical needs of the hospital.  For example, in 2007, the Foundation purchased ultrasound for surgery ($36,108), equipment for joint replacement ($18,360), and epidural pumps for pain management ($181,807). 

Gifts of any amount are accepted and welcomed because Pardee Hospital is our community’s hospital. To stay abreast of technological changes and new life-saving procedures, Pardee Hospital must constantly upgrade its equipment and facilities.  Hendersonville and the surrounding communities benefit from your support.

11th Annual Women Helping Women

Pardee Hospital Foundation's Women Helping Women committee began in 1998. The goal of the committee is to provide financial assistance to uninsured and underinsured women patients at Pardee Hospital who need screening mammograms and breast cancer care. An educational luncheon event is held each year to provide an ongoing resource for patient care.  

This year the Foundation is celebrating our 11th annual luncheon which will be on October 17th.  We will also be having a dinner on October 16th. Both events will take place at Hendersonville Country Club.
