Jayne Burke
Breast Cancer Survivor

As a young mother in my 30’s with no family history of breast cancer, I was surprised when I discovered a lump in my breast while performing a routine self breast exam.

Jayne enjoys spending time with her two sons, Mitchell & Cooper.

I thought I was too young for this to be happening to me.

Even though this was the scariest thing I’ve ever had to go through, I was determined to do whatever it took to beat the disease so I would be here to watch my sons grow up. Thanks to the outstanding group of cancer specialists at Pardee, I’m still here and have been in remission for three years.

The doctors, nurses and patient care team at Pardee are truly amazing. They keep your spirits up – they lift you, they love you, they laugh and cry with you. They were like a family to me – always there when I needed them most. I was terrified when I came for my first round of chemotherapy and the nurses understood how I felt. They stayed by my side the entire time, holding my hand and comforting me. Time was also never an issue with any of my doctors – they gave me all the attention I needed and really listened to me as I voiced my concerns.

It gave me strength to know that everyone at Pardee, in addition to my own family and friends, were there to support me. No one should ever have to face cancer alone. And, at Pardee you’re never alone.
