Technology & Research

The Comprehensive Cancer Center at Pardee uses the most advanced technology and proven techniques to provide excellent care to cancer patients. Available technology includes:
  • Linear accelerator with intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) capability, which allows higher, more effective doses of radiation to be delivered to tumors while minimizing exposure to healthy tissues and organs.
  • Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging scanner
  • Digital mammography
  • MRI and CT scanners
  • Nuclear medicine
  • Brachytherapy (prostate seed implants)
  • Modern surgical facilities
  • Precise chemo and drug therapies

Pardee is one of only two medical centers performing cancer clinical trials in western North Carolina. The center participates in national research studies and clinical trials that offer patients access to the newest therapies available at some of the nation’s leading university medical centers. Pardee is active in clinical trials on many forms of cancer and in cancer prevention. The Comprehensive Cancer Center at Pardee is a member of the Southeast Cancer Control Consortium, which links the hospital to research through the National Cancer Institute.
