Pardee is the first and only hospital in North Carolina hospital to be ISO 9001:2008 certified. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification is a rigorous process in which a hospital improves and monitors the delivery of patient care, measures quality and places the highest priority on eliminating errors. ISO standards are used internationally in different fields including agriculture, construction, manufacturing, aerospace, medical devices and health care.
ISO standards are globally known and are considered the "gold" standard for all industries. The standards help Pardee to provide consistent patient care, ensuring that operational processes lead to both expected and improved patient outcomes. More than 32,000 organizations in the United States are ISO 9001:2008 certified. Currently, only 40 hospitals are certified in the United States. Pardee is proud to be the first hospital in North Carolina accredited by Det Norske Veritas (DNV). The leadership at Pardee made the decision to move from The Joint Commission to DNV in 2009. DNV is the first accrediting agency to combine the CMS Conditions of Participation for Hospitals (CoPs) with the International Organization of Standardization guidelines (ISO).
The CoPs are clinical standards that must be in place in facilities providing care to Medicare and Medicaid patients. ISO standards are used in all types of industries (aerospace, manufacturing, automobile and airline) and are considered the "gold" standard of quality management. DNV is the first company to offer the combination of clinical standards with operational standards that provide the foundation of consistent, reproducible service. The combination of CoPs with ISO allows Pardee to focus on processes that are specific to our patient population.
DNV is a risk management company and has been in business since 1884. They began inspecting ships and during their 140 years of business, have expanded into defense, energy, food and beverage, transportation, energy, automobile and finance risk management. DNV accredits hospitals around the world and are very pleased to have received authorization to accredit health care facilities in the United States.
HealthGrades has pioneered hospital quality since 1998, with the purpose of helping consumers understand, compare and evaluate hospital performance. Unlike other hospital quality analyses, Healthgrades evaluates hospitals solely on clinical outcomes: risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications. Below are the awards Pardee Hospital has received from HealthGrades. For more information about HealthGrades, click here.
