Take Time, Take Charge

[caption id="attachment_1204" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Olson Huff, M.D."][/caption] Raising the Triumphant Child Childhood is often viewed as a stage to get through and children, like green tomatoes on a vine, waiting to mature.  Instead, Dr. Olson Huff sees childhood as a time of life which has its own identity.  It is a time to put down deep and permanent roots as each child develops his/her innate character.  As we experience children, as we see them as vibrant and dynamic persons, we can begin to hear what they have to tell us about love, joy, pain, hope, friendship and the discovery of new things.  Instead of being helpless, children, even newborn babies, have a marvelous power to influence their world and those around them.  As we look carefully at the strength of children, we are invited to claim our own personal strengths as their fathers and mothers.  We are all, in our own way, triumphant children.  Dr. Huff will discuss Raising the Triumphant Child at Take Time, Take Charge - an event for all women. Olson Huff, M.D., FAAP, is one of America’s most respected pediatricians. His significant contributions to the field of pediatrics has spanned over 40 years, from his days of pediatric residency training at the Charlotte Memorial Hospital to his most recent contribution as the Medical Director of the Mission Children’s Hospital.  Dr. Huff found joy in the challenges faced within pediatric medicine and has dedicated most of his career to focusing on the expansion of healthcare services to all children, with a special focus on children with special healthcare needs. This direction led him to the establishment of The Olson Huff Center for Child Development, which supplies interdisciplinary care for children with special needs. Dr. Huff is a Commissioner for the North Carolina Health and Wellness Trust Fund, as well as the Chairman of the Committee on Federal Government Affairs for the American Academy of Pediatrics, where he works with the US Congress to reform the U.S. health system. One of Dr. Huff ’s proudest achievements is the creation of a mobile dental program that supplies dental service to underprivileged children in rural areas.
