[caption id="attachment_420" align="aligncenter" width="420" caption="Kristy Capps & Rhonda Fain provide tours of the new cancer resource room at the recent Doctor's Day reception."][/caption] The cancer resource room has moved to the Kayden Center to provide more convenient access to the patients of the Pardee Elizabeth Reilly Breast Center. The move also provides a much larger space. The resource room was previously housed at the Pardee Health Education Center in the Blue Ridge Mall. The cancer resource room allows women undergoing cancer treatment to find the right wig, prosthesis, turban, scarf, mastectomy bra, clothing or hat at no charge. The room is provided in cooperation with the American Cancer Society. Congratulations to Kristy Capps and Melanie Tecklenburgh for creating such a warm, beautiful space for our female cancer patients. Pardee bear well on its way

Constance Vlahoulis, owner of "The Conn-Artist" Studios and Art Gallery in Hendersonville, has started painting the Pardee Hospital bear in her studio. The bear, which will be put on display in downtown Hendersonville during the eighth annual public art display, Bearfootin' 2010, can be seen in the window of Connie's studio as she paints and designs the artwork for this year's bear. This year will mark the sixth year that bears will be used in the display, after using goats and apples for the past couple of years. Once completed, the Pardee bear and other bears from local businesses, will be showcased on the streets of downtown. The exhibit will open in April and run through October 2010. Be sure to stop by Connie's studio at 611 Greenville Hwy. in Atha Plaza to check out the progress of the bear. To view more photos of the bear click here. -L
