15th Annual Tournament of Champions a Success

The 15th Annual Pardee Foundation Tournament of Champions took place on Monday, May 17, at Kenmure Golf and Country Club. The event raised $93,236.88 to assist with the planned renovations to Pardee Hospital’s nationally recognized orthopedic unit. This year’s event featured a new 9-hole tournament in the morning with 27 golfers, followed by the traditional 18-hole tournament in the afternoon with a full field of 130 players. More than 40 volunteers ensured that the event ran smoothly. This event has raised more than $1 million since 1996 to support Pardee Hospital facilities, equipment and programs. Proceeds from the tournament will help fund planned renovations to Pardee’s orthopedic unit which is consistently benchmarked among other top orthopedic programs in the nation. These renovations include upgrades to the current 25 patient rooms and the addition of five patient rooms, enlargement of group therapy space, equipment purchases for orthopedic surgeries and a new conference area. All of these renovations will support the growth in orthopedic and spine procedures to address the growing needs of our community. Gladys Nesbitt, nursing director of orthopedics at Pardee Hospital, said, “As the number of patients in our Joint Camp program has steadily increased, it has become readily apparent that our facilities at Pardee need to be expanded and renovated. These changes will allow us to offer even more services to patients who chose our destination for their surgical needs.” Thank you to the many sponsors, volunteers, committee members, golfers, and staff who made this event such a great success.
