Pardee Hospital Foundation's 18th Annual Tournament of Champions at Kenmure Country Club in Flat Rock raised more than $100,000 to purchase vital medical equipment for Pardee Hospital.
More than 160 golfers competed in this year's event featuring 9-hole and 18-hole tournaments that help give back to our community's health care. This year's tournament proceeds helped the foundation purchase an angiography imagery device used in orthopedic, vascular and general surgeries. This device will be used for diagnosing and removing blood clots, placing vascular stents and during bypass surgeries.
"As a member of Pardee Hospital Foundation board of directors, I am proud of the continued generous support of Pardee Hospital and by those who recognize their community hospital's outstanding service and quality. They trust their lives and those of their families to a dedicated, award-winning team of nurses, physicians and staff," said Lynn Matykiewicz , co-chair of this year's tournament and past president of the Pardee Hospital Foundation board of directors.
A total of 41 sponsors supported this year's Tournament of Champions. UNC Health Care System and Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of Asheville served as Diamond Sponsors. Ameri-Quipt of NC, Inc.; Andy Oxy Co., Inc.; HealthCare Claims Management; Hendersonville Health & Rehab/Beystone Health & Rehab, a Sanstone Community; KBR Building Group; Pardee Hospital; ParsecFinancial Management, Inc.; Times-News; Wells Fargo; and Wright McGraw Beyer Architects, PA., served as Gold Sponsors.

The Pardee Hospital Foundation was presented a check for $11,250 on April 19, by the golf committees of Hendersonville Elks Lodge 1616 and American Legion Post 77, in honor of Steve Summey following the inaugural Steve Summey Memorial Golf Tournament. The proceeds from the tournament went to the foundation to support Pardee's cancer services.
"This golf event was a wonderful thing for Steve's friends to do to honor him, and the $11,250 raised will be used to help purchase vital equipment at the Pardee Comprehensive Cancer Center," said Kim Hinkelman, Executive Director, Pardee Hospital Foundation.
Summey was co-owner of Summey Plumbing & Heating and a long-time member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 77 and of Crooked Creek Golf Club where the Steve Summey Memorial Golf Tournament was held April 6 - 7. The community came together to hold a memorial golf tournament for Summey following his brave battle with cancer.
