Pardee To Host Blood Drive

Pardee will host a blood drive for the Blood Connection on Wednesday, August 5, from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. The blood drive will be held in the Jamison Conference Room at Pardee Hospital, located at 800 N. Justice Street in Hendersonville.

In order to donate blood, one must be healthy, at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more and not have donated blood in the past 56 days. Pardee Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital founded in 1953 and is managed by UNC Health Care. The hospital is licensed for 222 acute care beds. Pardee Hospital recognized by U.S. News & World Report in 2015 'Best Hospitals' rankings

Three procedures/conditions recognized as "high performing"

 

Pardee Hospital has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report's 2015 'Best Hospitals' rankings, earning the No. 13 spot in North Carolina. The hospital was also named a Best Regional Hospital in the Mountains region. Additionally, three adult procedures/conditions were recognized as "high performing," including heart failure, hip replacement and knee replacement.

U.S. News & World Report's annual "American's Best Hospitals" issue reveals the results of nearly 5,000 hospital evaluations nationwide. This is the first year that Pardee has made the U.S. News & World Report list.

It's All in Your Head- Migraine Discussion

                                                                                                              

The Pardee Signature Care Center in the Blue Ridge Mall will host the free Spirit of Women presentation on Migraines entitled “It’s All in Your Head” on Tuesday, July 14, from 6-7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Joel Callahan Jr., M.D., who is fellowship-trained in Neuro-Muscular Disease and board certified in Neurology from Pardee Neurology Associates in Hendersonville. Dr. Callahan will discuss what causes migraines, common triggers and when to determine if you need to see a neurologist. 

It is estimated that approximately 12 percent of Americans, about 30 million people, suffer from migraine headaches. Migraines are a neurological disorder in which a person suffers recurrent moderate to severe headaches that worsen during routine physical activity and can last from four hours to three of more days when left untreated. Though anyone can suffer from migraines, they are most common between the ages of 30 and 60, and women are three times as likely to get them as men.

“Shoulder Pain: Don’t Shrug It Off”

The Pardee Signature Care Center in the Blue Ridge Mall will host the free presentation “Shoulder Pain: Don’t Shrug It Off” on Thursday, July 30, from 11 a.m. - 12p.m. Guest speaker will be Suzanne Hall, M.D., a fellowship trained shoulder specialist and board certified orthopedic surgeon at Appalachian Orthopedics in Hendersonville, NC. Dr. Hall will discuss common causes of shoulder pain, signs of trouble, the latest treatment options, and how to keep your shoulders healthy. This presentation is free and open to anyone who is interested in learning more about the care of their shoulders.

Medicare Choices Made Easy - July

Pardee Hospital’s Signature Care Center is hosting a free informative class titled “Medicare Choices Made Easy” on Thursday, July 23 from 3 – 5 pm at the Pardee Signature Care Center, located in the Blue Ridge Mall. Sponsored by the Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) of Henderson County and the Buncombe County Council on Aging, this program explains the sections of Medicare, when to sign up, how to avoid penalties and how to make the most cost-effective choices.
