Color her world beautiful. Whether tending the vibrant floral garden alongside her enclosed porch or opening the doors of her home for a casual, informational evening, Joan Martin spends her time making a difference in the world around her. When a Pardee Foundation
volunteer asked her to host an event she knew it could be a positive way to help the hospital.
Being a cancer-survivor, she picked a program about cancer services including the nationally recognized Comprehensive Cancer Center
located at the hospital. She and husband Jerry invited friends from their Sugar Hollow neighborhood to gather for wine and hors d’oeuvres as well as to hear W. Mark McCollough, MD, with Mountain Radiation Oncology
, speak about oncology research and the value of the Center of Excellence to the community.
Joan believes that her neighbors are lucky to have Pardee nearby. And the Foundation knows that it is fortunate to have the friendship of the Martins. Thanks, Joan and Jerry, for the gracious hospitality and wonderful evening of sharing. If you would like to host an event or give in other ways, please contact the Pardee Hospital Foundation at (828) 696-4666.
