Pardee Perspecitives Offers Nutrition Counseling

Perspectives Diabetes
Self-Management Education Program is now offering nutrition counseling services for people who do not have
a diagnosis of diabetes. Participants receive one-on-one, individualized counseling with a Registered Dietitian.

Nutrition counseling may benefit people dealing with:
Acid reflux/GERD, and other digestive issues
High blood pressure
High cholesterol
Kidney stones
Weight management
Other nutrition-related concerns and questions

A referral from your physician is not required to participate.
$40 per session (approximately 1 ¼ hour)
$60 per session for pre-diabetes counseling (approximately 1 ¾ hours, includes a visit with our Certified Diabetes Educator)

Your insurance will not be billed for this service – it is an out-of-pocket charge.
We accept cash, check or credit card.

The Spine Center at Pardee

The Spine Center at Pardee is now open. The Spine Center at Pardee consists of physicians who are experts in the field of spine surgery, pain management, physical therapy and neurology. At the heart of our spine center is Karen Lewis, our nurse practitioner spine navigator who evaluates and guides patients to the best avenue of care and serves as a point of contact for your patient.

This center provides patients with back, neck and spine problems access to expert spine specialists and personalized care. This personalized care is orchestrated by a multidisciplinary group of providers who collaborate to provide an optimal patient experience and clinical outcomes. Pardee hosts open house for James Reis, M.D.

Pardee Hospital will hold an open house to welcome the hospital’s newest internal medicine physician, James Reis, M.D.

The event will be held Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 4 – 6 p.m. at Pardee Internal Medicine Associates, located at 709A North Justice Street. Refreshments will be served.

Dr. Reis received his medical degree from Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. He is board-certified in internal medicine and was the former medical director of the Golden Living Center Extended Care Facility in Richmond, Ind.

BirthNetwork presents third annual Joyful Birth and Breastfeeding Expo

BirthNetwork, of Western North Carolina, will hold the third annual Joyful Birth and Breastfeeding Expo on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Mall.

This event will feature three nationally recognized authors: Ina May Gaskin, Sandy Campbell and Lisa Goldstein. There will also be films, health discussions, raffle drawings, a fashion show and mother-friendly exhibitors. This event is free to the public.

BirthNetwork is a non-profit organization that supports anyone seeking information, resources and support for healthy, respectful maternity care. BirthNetwork National is based on the Mother Friendly Childbirth Initiative, which outlines the principles of mother-friendly care in order to promote the safest, healthiest and most cost-effective maternity care.
