Celebration of Life Ceremony held at Elizabeth Reilly Breast Center at Pardee Hospital

Pardee Hospital’s breast cancer support group, Breast Friends Forever, held a special Celebration of Life Ceremony on Oct. 25 at the Elizabeth Reilly Breast Center.

The event is the third annual ceremony which celebrates women who have overcome issues related to breast cancer and survivorship. Survivors of breast cancer were able to share their stories and experiences with others. Kristy Capps, Breast Care Navigator and support group facilitator, led the group of breast cancer survivors in a special balloon release using biodegradable balloons.

The Breast Friends Forever support group meets monthly at the Elizabeth Reilly Breast Center at Pardee and is open to women who currently have breast cancer or have previously been treated for the disease. The Pardee Hospital’s  Orthopedics Center of Excellence was honored Friday afternoon with the presentation of the HealthGrades Awards for Orthopedic Surgery and Joint Replacement Excellence. These awards are reserved for hospital units that perform in the top 10% of the nation and are an indication of the overall quality clinical care that Pardee strives for.

Speakers for the event were Pat Ashe on how nursing and physicians made the award happen, Dr. Robert Kiskaddon on how quality and patient experience go hand-in-hand and HealthGrades representative Sarah Lewis on what the HealthGrades award meant in regards to quality, prestige and public opinion.

Six Pardee Hospital nurses achieve national certifications

Pardee Hospital nurses are committed to continuing education to enhance patient care in Henderson County, and in the month of July six nurses have achieved national certifications. “When nurses prioritize continuously improving their knowledge and skills, which is demonstrated in the stringent criteria to achieve national certification in a nursing specialty, it results in increasing the quality of care for our patients. This commitment to patient care quality is an inspiration to others with whom they work; further encouraging learning and sharing best practices among the team of caregivers,” said Pat Ashe, MS, BSN, RN, FACHE, Vice President Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Officer. Pardee Pain Center welcomes Dr. Baksh

Pardee Hospital welcomes Javid Mu’ Az. Baksh, D.O., as the newest physician to the Pardee Pain Center.

Dr. Baksh has his medical degree as a Doctor of Osteopathy and received his D.O. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford.  He completed his Fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of Cincinnati. Elizabeth Harding, M.D., joins Pardee Flat Rock Family Health Center

Elizabeth Harding, M.D., is now accepting new patients at Pardee Flat Rock Family Health Center. Harding received her medical degree from Cornell University and completed her residency with MAHEC in Hendersonville.
