Pardee Hospital to accept Aetna insurance for patients

Pardee Hospital will begin accepting Aetna insurance starting March 1, 2013.

"We are very pleased to be part of the Aetna network of providers. The addition of Aetna will provide several businesses and retirees in the area easier access to Pardee Hospital, Pardee Urgent Care and Pardee's physician network services," said Alan House, Chief Financial Officer at Pardee Hospital.

Aetna offers a broad range of traditional and consumer-directed health insurance products and related services including medical, pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, group life and disability plans, and medical management capabilities and health care management services for Medicaid plans. Customers include employer groups, individuals, college students, part-time and hourly workers, health plans, governmental units, government-sponsored plans, labor groups and expatriates. Patients are encouraged to speak to their physician to see if they are in the network.

Pardee Center for Women’s Health receives national ultrasound practice accreditation in the area of OB/GYN

Pardee Center for Women's Health has received ultrasound practice accreditation in the area of OB/GYN by the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine (AIUM).

Pardee Center for Women's Health achieved this recognition by meeting rigorous voluntary guidelines set by the diagnostic ultrasound profession. All facets of the practice were assessed; including the training and qualifications of physicians and sonographers, ultrasound equipment maintenance, documentation, storage and record-keeping practices, policies and procedures to protect patients, and staff and quality assurance methods.

The AIUM is a multidisciplinary medical association of more than 9,000 physicians, sonographers, scientists, students and other health care providers. Established more than 50 years ago, the AIUM is dedicated to advancing the safe and effective use of ultrasound in medicine through professional and public education, research, development of guidelines and accreditation.

Pardee Center for Women's Health focuses on keeping patients well through regular screenings, routine visits with a physician, digital mammograms and gynecological care. The Center for Women's Health features board-certified OB/GYNs, certified nurse-midwives and highly-trained nurses and staff.

Pardee Hospital to host community blood drive in February

Pardee Hospital will host a community blood drive for the Blood Connection on Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the hospital’s Jamison Conference Room located on the first floor..

In order to donate blood, one must be healthy, at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more, and not have donated blood in the past 56 days. Walk-in donors will be accepted, but those with appointments will be seen first.

Karen Winch, PTA, ATRIC, receives certification to offer Ai Chi courses at Pardee Rehab & Wellness

Karen Winch, PTA, ATRIC, at Pardee Rehab & Wellness Center has met the certification requirements to offer Ai Chi courses by The Aquatic Therapy and Rehab Institute, in conjunction with Ai Chi International.

Ai Chi is a water exercise and relaxation program that has been created to help aquatic practitioners and students decrease stress and increase energy by using the water in a flowing yet powerful progression. Personal trainers have found Ai Chi to be a valuable relaxation technique. Aquatic therapy and rehabilitation practitioners use this type of therapy for pain reduction, balance and improved range of motion and mobility for patients.

Winch also received her Back Hab certification through The Aquatic Therapy and Rehab Institute. Back Hab is used following trauma, for overuse injuries, surgery for discs and fusion, osteoporosis and to decrease stress and tension.

Pardee Urgent Care receives Certified Urgent Care designation

Pardee Urgent Care has been designated as a Certified Urgent Care (Category I) by the Urgent Care Association of America, which distinguishes the quality of the operating model used at this location.  


“The health care environment is changing and it is becoming more important to patients to understand their treatment options. This new certification that Pardee Urgent Care has received emphasizes our commitment to serving our patients,” said Jennifer Hoots, CEO of Pardee Urgent Care.


X-ray and EKG services, as well as having the capability to perform minor procedures were some components Pardee Urgent Care provides that fulfill requirements for eligibility for this designation. Providing access to care seven days a week and commitment to having a licensed physician on-site during all posted hours of operation set Pardee Urgent Care apart from others.


Pardee Urgent Care provides expert medical attention seven days a week for unscheduled or urgent medical needs that are not considered emergencies.
