Congratulations to our DAISY Award Recipient, Laura Collins

Congratulations to Laura Collins, BSN, RN-BC, SANE, RN III, for receiving the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

Laura is a clinical coordinator and staff nurse in the Emergency Department Psychiatric Transitional Unit. She enjoys being a nurse because it gives her the opportunity to help those who have no one or nothing to help them; whether they are underserved, the least cared for, forgotten or neglected. When Laura isn't caring for patients, she likes to swim, travel, enjoy the outdoors and spend time with her children.

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is a national award that honors the super-human work nurses do for patients and families every day. If you would like to nominate a Pardee nurse for their excellence in patient care, click here.

Pardee Hosts Final Spirit of Women Seminar for 2014

We had a great turnout at our final Spirit of Women seminar for 2014 - Spain: Your Adventure Against Diabetes.

Spain Facebook

Those who attended did not only learn how to manage and prevent diabetes, but they also enjoyed a taste of Spanish cuisine, compliments of Ingles Markets. Our engaging speakers for the night included Nina Lovern from Pardee's Perspectives Diabetes Self-Management Education Program, Erin Calloway from YMCA of Western North Carolina and Jason Lasuzzo from Pardee Cardiovascular Rehabilitation and Wellness.

The YMCA also led everyone in light exercises, followed by Q&A with Pardee and YMCA services.

This was a great way to wrap up our 2014 Spirit of Women series, and we're excited to release our 2015 event and seminar schedule soon.
