Words of thanks - Comprehensive Wound Healing Center

The Comprehensive Wound Healing Center recently received several thank you notes from recent patients who received treatment at the center.  Since these patients took the time to thank the staff of the wound center, we would like to take time to share their words of thanks with the readers of our blog. "Dear Wound Healing staff: Yes, yes, thank you all for your dedicated care and support. You are all the best. I am so thankful to have been in your skillful hands. Bless you all and may the new season be kind to you all." - Joyce Maile and Jaye Peterson "Thank you, Wound Center. To all the nurses and support staff for taking such good care of me. A special thanks to Dr. Albers and Anne Campbell for the extra attention to my health and well-being. You are all greatly appreciated. Best wishes in the future growth of your department." - Katherine Fox "Dr. Jones and Wound care staff: I just wanted to thank you so very much for the care you provided my mother. She has been dealing off and on with open sores on her leg for nearly two years. The miraculous treatment you provided healed her antibiotic resistant infection, and her sores are closed. I feel so thankful that there is a treatment out there for her should this occur again. Again, thank you all for most likely saving my mother's leg!" - Sandy Camp The Comprehensive Wound Healing Center at Pardee is dedicated to the provision of state-of-the-art, outpatient clinical wound care and hyperbaric medicine for acute and chronic wounds. If you have a wound that has not responded to treatment, contact the Comprehensive Wound Healing Center at Pardee by calling (828) 696-4284.

Karen Winch receives aquatic therapy certification

Karen Winch, an aquatic therapist at the Pardee Rehab and Wellness Center, recently became certified in aquatic therapeutic exercise.  Winch is the only aquatic therapist in Western North Carolina and one of only 17 in the entire state to have received this certification. Winch has been with Pardee for 12 years.  She began working as a physical therapist assistant and moved over to aquatics in 2006.  Winch received her certification through the Aquatic Therapy Rehabilitation Institute. “The certification required 15 hours of hands-on work and classroom education, followed by a comprehensive exam,” said Winch.  “In a year, I will go back to continue my education and renew the certification.” Winch stated that her certification and the recent certification of other Pardee associates show the hospital’s encouragement and interest in continuing education.  The addition of Winch’s certification will allow for the Pardee Rehab and Wellness Center to offer state-of-the-art aquatics rehabilitation therapy where each patient receives a tailored program specific to their diagnosis. For more information about the aquatic therapy program at the Pardee Rehab and Wellness Center, call 1-866-790-WELL (9355).
