The Pardee Hospital Board of Directors has announced its officers and new board members for 2012.
William L. Moyer, retired attorney, will serve as chair. Peter Goodfield, M.D., cardiologist with Hendersonville Cardiology, will serve as vice-chair. Jack Summey, president of Summey Plumbing and Heating will serve as secretary. Joseph W. Smith, III, retired senior director of operations at ArvinMeritor, will serve as treasurer.
Fielding Lucas, a retired businessman, and Walter Carpenter, an attorney-at-law are the latest elected board members for 2012. Charlie Messer, county commissioner and small business owner, continues to hold the Henderson County Commissioner appointed seat on the board.
A letter from Jay Kirby, our President and CEO, was 1ed in today's Times-News, Be Our Guest column.
"As a new resident of Mills River and Henderson County and new CEO of Pardee Hospital, I have had the opportunity over the past few months to view the challenges we face from a fresh perspective. While there is no doubt that our county commissioners will play an important role in the future of Pardee Hospital, it is important to consider what that role is.
That is why I read with great interest the Times-News editorial of March 24, “Time to see fine print for joint project.” That editorial outlined concerns from both the editorial board of the Times-News and a minority of Henderson County commissioners who are continually raising concerns about a joint agreement Pardee and Mission hospitals entered into to better serve the patients of Fletcher."

In celebration of Doctor's Day Pardee Hospital hosted an event for our physicians to bring their families to Camp Ton-A-Wandah for a BBQ dinner, music and fellowship. There was canoeing and horseback rides for kids and a few received s'mores by the fire pit before the rain came. All ages learned line dances and enjoyed the music.
We really appreciate all our physicians do here at Pardee and we hope they know that!
Pardee was recently highlighted in Times-News Words of Thanks section for patient-centered care while a patient was undergoing surgery.
"Dear Community: I recently had surgery at Pardee Hospital-Outpatient Department. Because of an earlier hospital experience, I was extremely nervous to have the surgery in spite of being in Dr. Eisenhauer's capable hands.
The story is one I would like to share before of the TLC received by incredibly sensitive and caring people at Pardee Hospital- especially Melissa and Sherry, who made a difficult and fearful time a lot easier.
Thank you Pardee and big "thank yous" to Melissa and Sherry"
