Standard flu vaccines will be available every Monday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. and every Wednesday and Friday at 3 p.m. at the Pardee Health Education Center, located in the Blue Ridge Mall. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that by getting a flu vaccine, one can protect themselves from influenza as well as avoid spreading it to others.  This is an inactivated vaccine given by injection and is available to those who are 16 years of age or older. The standard flu vaccine is $22 and may be purchased by cash, check, credit card or Traditional Medicare Part B.  Supplemental and private insurance will not be processed, but receipts will be issued for patient reimbursement submissions.  No appointments are necessary.  For more information, please call 692-4600.

Pardee Hospital Foundation offers Making Rounds

It was another grand opportunity to visit Pardee through Pardee Hospital Foundation's Making Rounds Tour where eight members of our community recently toured the hospital, starting first thing in the operating room.  Drs. Das and Mackel were generous in their time to share with our guests the orthopedic surgeries they were performing.  Joe and Eileen from the day surgery crew also provided excellent information on processes in the surgical suites, the equipment the Foundation helped purchase, and data on Pardee’s low infection rates.  Our guests also visited the new Comprehensive Wound Center to see the new hyperbaric chambers.  Paul explained how oxygen therapy works and the types of patients who can benefit.  “I really liked observing surgery and the willingness of the staff to impart information to us,” said Ann N., one of the participants.  If you would like to participate in an upcoming Making Rounds tour, please contact the Foundation office at (828) 696-4666.

From www.hvillscoop.com, ""I am pleased to say Mission's leadership has offered the concessions as requested," Kirby told the board during the afternoon session of their day long meeting, adding that the adjustments had been futher reviewed by both legal counsel for Pardee's Board of Directors and that of their parent organzation UNC Heath Systems. "We're excited to see this as a business venture for the town of Fletcher and they feel the same way. I feel it only appropriate that Pardee's Board of Trustees allow me to sign the memo of understanding next week and that we all move forward with this project."
