Recently a delegation of Russians from Open World
visited Pardee Hospital. Open World is a federally funded program that has a mission to enhance understanding and capabilities for cooperation between the United States and the countries of Eurasia and the Baltic States by developing a network of leaders in the region who have gained significant, firsthand exposure to America's democratic, accountable government and its free-market system. This particular group consisted of 10 physicians, two interpreters and two facilitators. The facilitators are English speaking Russians whose job it is to facilitate the work of the delegates by acquainting them with American customs but not to translate. This group visited due to their interest in healthcare and healthcare funding in the U.S. In addition to Pardee Hospital, the group visited the Hendersonville Free Clinic and the Henderson County Health Department. Representatives from Pardee provided them with a tour of the emergency department, intensive care unit and concluded with lunch and a lively discussion with Pardee president and CEO, Kris Hoce and CFO, Alan House.
