, will discuss the causes and treatment options for osteoarthritis of the hand in a free presentation at the Pardee Health Education Center on Tue., Sept. 21, from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Osteoarthritis is a type of arthritis that is caused by the breakdown and eventual loss of the cartilage in one or more joints. Osteoarthritis is also known as degenerative arthritis. Among the approximately 100 different types of arthritis conditions, osteoarthritis is the most common, affecting over 20 million people in the United States. Osteoarthritis occurs more frequently as we age. Napoli specializes in hand and wrist disorders and injuries, as well as general orthopaedic surgery.
