A: The Comprehensive Wound Healing Center at Pardee is an outpatient treatment center that provides the most up-to-date approaches in the science of wound care by highly-trained staff. Coping with chronic, non-healing wounds can be both frustrating and time-consuming, but now expert care is available to help improve healing and your quality of life.
Q: What happens during a visit?
A: You will be seen by either myself or Dr. Mike Jones, and by our talented nursing staff. Because every patient’s wound is unique, you will have a thorough diagnostic exam to determine the type of wound you have and its underlying causes.
A treatment plan specifically tailored to your needs will be started. Our staff will set up regular appointments for your visits to the Center and give you all of the information you need to take care of your wound at home between visits.
Q: I’ve heard the Center will have hyperbaric oxygen therapy in early 2011. What is this?
A: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a simple but effective treatment in which you breathe pure oxygen inside a pressurized chamber. The therapy quickly and safely delivers high concentrations of oxygen to your bloodstream, which helps increase your body’s own natural wound-healing abilities.
Q: What is it like inside one of the chambers?
A: Our hyperbaric chambers have clear sides, through which you can see your surroundings, including the medical staff that will be nearby throughout your treatment. With the chambers located in a comfortable treatment room, equipped with a TV and videos, many people use their therapy time in the chamber to relax and enjoy themselves.
Q: Can my current doctor be involved?
A: Yes. The treatment you receive at the Comprehensive Wound Healing Center is designed to complement the care your own physician provides, ensuring that your health care team is always working together to provide treatment that’s right for you. Your physician participates in developing your treatment plan and is kept informed of your progress every step of the way.
