, will address the prevalence of end-stage kidney disease, how it is treated and the outcomes of treatment in a free presentation at the Pardee Health Education Center on Mon., Oct. 18, from 3 until 4:30 p.m. Chronic kidney disease occurs when one suffers from gradual and usually permanent loss of kidney function over time. Another name for kidney failure is renal failure. Mild kidney disease is often called renal insufficiency. During the presentation, Dr. Word-Sims will cover chronic kidney disease - how it is staged, what effects it has and how it is treated. He will offer time for questions after the presentation.
