Robert Ward, M.D., FCCP, Medical Director at Pardee Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and Pulmonologist with Carolina Lung and Sleep Physicians, will discuss chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at the Pardee Health Education Center, located in the Blue Ridge Mall.
“COPD recently became the third leading cause of death and its prevalence is expected to continue rising. Approximately half of those who presently have COPD are not aware. Any history of smoking is the most common factor associated with developing COPD. Certainly anyone with difficulty breathing or unusual shortness of breath needs to see their doctor and discuss this,” said Joel Tipton, MA, RCEP, Cardiopulmonary Rehab Program Coordinator at Pardee.
During this discussion, Dr. Ward will review and discuss what causes COPD, how it can be evaluated, and the latest developments in treatment options that are available for those who are living with this condition. This presentation is free and open to the public. Registration is required by calling 1-866-790-WELL (9355).
