As your community hospital, it is our duty to keep you informed of hospital news and to be transparent about our initiatives. We want to address some inaccuracies that were in the public today regarding Pardee and our Health Campus project with Mission Hospitals.
In Commissioner Young’s Be Our Guest
editorial, in www.blueridgenow.com
he stated that:
“…Several months ago when the joint venture between Mission Hospital and Pardee Hospital was started at the county line..”
: This occurred on September 7, 2010. The link to the board minutes is here
, on page six.
“…The Board of Commissioners voted unanimously that Pardee would own 50 percent of the property, 50 percent of the facility and 50 percent of the business.”
: The vote was not unanimous. On September 21, 2011, Chairman Edney made the motion that the Board authorizes the Pardee Board to move forward with negotiations but with the understanding that approval of the Joint Venture is subject to final legal documents. The motion passed 4-1 with Commissioner O’Conner voting nay. The link to the board minutes is here
, on page nine.
“As of this date, all we have received from the hospital board is a memorandum of understanding that is not a legally binding agreement.”
This is the only agreement that Pardee Hospital has signed. The other documents are currently in progress.
