"My son raved about this ER doc..."

We received this message today from a patient's mother, good job Dr. McCarty! "There is a message for a Gregory McCarty MD, located in the Emergency Department. From: Michael's Mom Message: My son was in the ER this morning for an ear canal furuncle and was in miserable pain! Dr McCarty saw him within minutes, lanced the cyst and the relief was instantaneous! My son raved about this ER doc so, as his mom, I can't thank you enough! Everything about Dr. McCarty was great, per Michael!"

Pardee moves forward with Electronic Health Records to improve patient care

For the first time in our nation’s history, hospitals and eligible healthcare providers can now register with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to demonstrate intent to achieve meaningful use of certified electronic health records (EHRs) and qualify for incentive payments under the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. “Pardee is eager to participate in this opportunity because we believe electronic health records provide a number of advantages to our patients, including access by physicians to their patients’ complete health picture, better care coordination and fewer repetitive tests as providers share information and ultimately savings in time and money,” said Robert Kiskaddon, M.D., Vice President of Medical Affairs at Pardee Hospital. “Pardee Hospital is enthusiastically embracing the benefits of electronic health records and other forms of health IT. Pardee is currently using EHRs to improve patient care and is including EHRs in our strategy for the future by applying for the federal stimulus funds available to continue to support health information technology.  Meaningful use of health information technology is in the best interest of patients, healthcare providers and the nation,” said Harold Moore, Chief Information Officer – Facilities and Technology at Pardee Hospital. Pardee Hospital’s EHR continues to become increasingly advanced as the latest technology is continually monitored and implemented. EHR allows patient records to be updated digitally and enables healthcare providers the access to up-to-the-minute, easy to read information that reduces repeated procedures, human error and costs.

Hendersonville Family Health Center receives NCQA recognition

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has announced that Pardee Hospital's Hendersonville Family Health Center Family Practice Residency Program has received recognition from the Physician Practice Connections - Patient-Centered Medical Home (PPC-PCMH) program for using evidence-based, patient-centered processes that focus on highly coordinated care and long-term participative relationships. "The growth of the NCQA PPC-PCMH Recognition program shows how primary care practices are serious about improving the quality of care they deliver,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane. “By becoming recognized, more and more practices now have the tools, systems and resources to provide patients with patient-centered and coordinated care." Practices seeking PPC-PCMH must complete a data collection tool and provide documentation that validates responses. There are nine PPC standards, including ten elements that must be passed to result in one of three levels of recognition. After completing the assessment, Pardee Hospital received a Level 3, the highest level of recognition. Only 1,000 other practices in the U.S. have achieved NCQA recognition, and fewer than half at a Level 3.

'Jewel of a Hospital'

From today's (9/08/10) issue of the Times-News: They say there are emeralds in those hills, and Brooks Lancaster doesn't doubt it, but he says the biggest jewel is in his hometown of Hendersonville. He's bragging on Pardee Hospital. Seeking treatment for an injured ankle, the patient says the hospital staff impressed him. "They were so expedient," he says. "Within five minutes of arriving, I was directed to radiology, and after four X-rays, I was on my way. We definitely have the jewel of the isle right here. We can be thankful for that." -CJP

Pardee Home Care receives words of thanks

Our mother fell recently and within a week she was walking with the aid of her walker. Jennifer from Pardee’s Home Care came to the house regularly to start her on an exercise program.  We have been pleased with the therapy and the suggestions given and the care and concern of the home care team. Our dad has also used the services of Pardee Home Care and we appreciated the services and care that time also. Thank you all! Martha T. F. -CJP
