Take Time, Take Charge

Pioneering Healthier Communities [caption id="attachment_1188" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Kristen Weaver"][/caption] Many exciting projects are underway in Western North Carolina to help make Asheville and the surrounding communities an even healthier place to live, work and play.  Kristen Weaver will speak at Take Time, Take Charge - an event for all women on Pioneering Healthier Communities.  Pioneering Healthier Communities (PHC) was developed to create more opportunity for access to healthy living, with a goal of achieving a sense of well being and longevity throughout the communities.  Come learn about how PHC is serving as a catalyst providing leadership, support, coordination and resources to remove obstacles and assist the community in achieving their physical activity goals.  It is the desire of all organizations involved with PHC for these initiatives to serve as inspiration to the entire state and country to help make our nation a place where healthy living is easily accessible for all. Kristen Weaver is a native New Yorker who relocated with her mother and sister to Brevard, N.C. in 1992.  Kristen began her career at 18 years old and has been passionate about fitness since.  She steadily continued to instruct group exercise and personal train and currently holds certifications in Muscle Pump, Cardio and Step Aerobics, Cycle, Zumba and Personal Training.  Kristen graduated in the spring of 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership and a minor in the social sciences, emphasizing psychology and interpersonal communication, Magna Cum Laude from Brevard College. Kristen currently serves as the Director of Association Wellness Advancement at the YMCA of Western North Carolina.  This position serves as a resource for YMCA branches and the community in the advancement, development and implementation of wellness initiatives.

Pardee to Host Business After Hours

Pardee will host the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours on Thursday, Aug. 26 from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the new Pardee Center for Women’s Health, located at 512 6th Ave. West.   Starting this fall, the building will be the new home of Pardee OB/GYN Associates, Pardee Nurse-Midwifery and Joyce Maybin, lactation consultant. The venue for Business After Hours changes each month, allowing different host and sponsoring companies to promote their location, product or service. This event is usually well attended and regulars have formed lasting business relationships through contacts established at Business After Hours. In addition to the Business After Hours event, a live radio remote with Star 104.3 FM will be held from 4 until 6 p.m.

Take Time, Take Charge - Full Schedule of Events

The buzz is building and everyone is getting excited for "Take Time, Take Charge – an event for all women."  Grab a friend and make plans to spend the day with us in Biltmore Park. You do not want to miss this event.  There will be something for every woman.  If you haven't registered, you are urged to sign up soon. Space is limited.  The  event will be held at The Hilton at Biltmore Park on Friday, Sept. 17 from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.  It will include informative speakers on a variety of subjects (health, wellness, lifestyle, business) for empowering women of all ages, goodie bags filled with great gifts, a scrumptious sit down lunch with our keynote speaker, Diane Sieg, and a laid back networking hour.  The cost for the day is $40 per person. Join us for Camp Liberty

[caption id="attachment_1134" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Camp Liberty 2009"][/caption] Pardee Hospital is proud to once again offer Camp Liberty, an annual weekend camp for adult cancer patients and survivors receiving treatment in Henderson County.  Camp Liberty will be held from Aug. 27-29 at Bonclarken Conference Center in Flat Rock, NC.  Camp Liberty provides a free weekend retreat for male and female cancer patients and survivors, age 25 years and older, who received or are receiving their treatment in Henderson County.  The camp includes two nights of lodging, meals and various activities.  During the weekend, patients and survivors will have the opportunity to interact in a relaxed and supportive environment.
