10 Myths About Breast Cancer
Kristy Capps, RN III, BSN, is a certified breast care navigator with the Pardee Elizabeth Reilly Breast Center, and will dispel many of the myths women may have heard about breast cancer at Take Time, Take Charge - an event for all women
. Capps will provide attendees with the facts about breast cancer prevention, exams, detection, family history and treatment. It’s important for all women to be aware of the facts about breast cancer. There are many misconceptions passed down from woman to woman unknowingly. The information in this presentation could be life-saving for you or someone you know.
Kristy Capps, RN III, BSN, received her associates and undergraduate nursing degree from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. Capps is a lifelong resident of Henderson County and has a special interest in the people that comprise the community in which she was raised. As a breast care navigator, she serves as a guide for patients diagnosed with breast cancer. From initial diagnosis thru recovery, Capps provides on-going support, advocacy and encouragement to each of her patients and their families. Her role is multifaceted as she coordinates the clinical, educational, financial and emotional needs of breast cancer patients. Capps works diligently to ensure that each patient receives the care and treatment they need in a timely fashion. Capps facilitates the Breast Friends Forever Support Group consisting of women who are currently fighting breast cancer as well as those who previously fought the battle and won. The group meets monthly in Hendersonville at the Elizabeth Reilly Breast Center.
