Patient Financial Services

Your Hospital Bill

Your bill reflects services you received during your stay. A basic daily room rate includes your room, meals, nursing care, housekeeping, telephone and television. In addition, there may be charges for special services which include items your physician orders for you, such as x-rays or laboratory tests.

If you have certain tests or treatments in the hospital, you may receive bills from doctors you did not see in person. These bills are for services provided by these doctors in diagnosing and interpreting test results while you were a patient. Pathologists, cardiologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists and other specialists perform these services and are required to submit separate bills. Please call the number printed on your statement if you have questions.

Your Financial Counselor

The Financial Counselors in Patient Financial Services will assist you in any way possible. Do not hesitate to ask any questions you have about charges and billing, including questions about Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance.

Customer Service Representatives are assigned by a patient's last name:

Last Name A-F:     Mitzi Lanning (696-1188)

Last Name G-M:    Lisa Smith (696-1186)

Last Name N-Z:     Rebecca Owen (696-1183)

If You Do Not Have Insurance

A representative from Patient Financial Services will discuss financial arrangements with you. A hospital representative, who is also a representative of the Department of Social Services, is available to assist you in applying for Medicaid or other government assistance programs.

If You Have Health Insurance

We need a copy of your insurance identification cards, including Medicare and Medicaid. You should familiarize yourself with the terms of your insurance coverage. This will help you understand the hospital's billing procedures and charges. Your plan may have special requirements, such as a second surgical opinion or pre-certification for tests and procedures. It is your responsibility to make sure the requirements of your plan have been met. If your plan requirements are not followed, you may be financially responsible for all or part of the services provided in the hospital. Some doctors may not participate in your health care plan, and their services may not be covered.

The hospital accepts Medicare assignment and will file the claim. The hospital will also file your insurance claims for hospital services. The insurance company, based on the terms of your policy/Medicare payment rate, calculates the payment received by the hospital. Deductibles and co-payments are the responsibility of the patient.

If your insurance has not paid your claim after forty-five (45) days, those charges become your responsibility. Pardee Hospital will be happy to assist you in collecting your hospitalization insurance. However, your insurance policy is a contract between you and your insurance company. We will do our best to see that you receive the benefits to which you are entitled, but you are responsible for your account.
