Your Accommodations

Your Room

Your room assignment at Pardee Hospital is based upon your diagnosis and available beds when you are admitted. All rooms are private with a few exceptions. If you want to leave the unit for any reason, please check first at the nurses’ station.

Your Hospital Bed

Hospital beds are electrically operated. Your nurse will show you how to work your bed properly. Your hospital bed is probably higher and narrower than your bed at home. The bedside rails are for your protection and may be raised at night or during the day if you are resting, recovering from surgery, or taking certain medications.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs of various sizes are available on all nursing units. Getting in and out of a wheelchair without assistance may cause you to fall. Please ask for help from a member of the nursing staff.

Telephones

Telephones are provided in each room, except in the intensive care unit. Telephones with amplified handsets and text telephones are available upon request.

Local calls may be made at any time from the room by dialing 9 and then the number. Extensions within the hospital may be dialed directly without dialing 9.

Long distance and toll calls can be made at any time by dialing 9-0 and the number. Long distance calls cannot be charged to your room. You can make credit card calls or charge long distance calls to your home number.

Your family and friends can call you in your room by dialing 828-696-1 --- and your room number. For example, to call room 122, dial 828-696-1122.

You may call the hospital operator for assistance by dialing 0 at any time.

Calling Your Nurse

A button to call your nurse is located on your bed rail. When you press the button, the nursing station is alerted that you need assistance, and a light flashes above your door. A staff member will respond to your signal as soon as possible.

Television

Color television sets are provided free of charge in each room. Please be considerate of other patients by keeping your television’s volume low and by turning off your set at bedtime. See the Television Listings section in the newspaper for a program listing.

Pardee Hospital’s Closed Circuit TV system - Channels 18, 20, and 21 - are available 24 hours daily, free to our patients and their loved ones.

CCTV Channel 21 not only provides timely information related to your hospital stay, but also gives helpful insights into a healthier lifestyle. The video programs encompass a wide variety of healthcare topics.

CCTV Channel 20 is specifically designed for the Family Way Unit. Programs relate to infant care, parenting, children’s health issues and women’s issues.

CCTV Channel 18, the C.A.R.E. Channel, provides beautiful images and instrumental music that were composed and produced specifically to support healing environments.

Smoking Policy

Pardee Hospital is a smoke-free facility. Patients, visitors, and employees are not allowed to smoke inside the building or on the premises. Nicotine gum or patches will be provided to patients if ordered by a doctor.

The Auxiliary delivers mail for patients each morning. Letters and parcels that arrive after you have been discharged are forwarded to your home. Stamps and stationery may be purchased in the gift shop. Outgoing mail may be left at the nurses’ station or given to a volunteer.
