Your hospital bill reflects the services you received during your stay. A basic daily room rate includes your room, meals, nursing care, housekeeping, telephone and television. In addition, there may be charges for special services which include items your physician orders for you, such as X-rays or laboratory tests.
If you have certain tests or treatments in the hospital, you may receive a bill from a provider that you did not see in person. These bills are for providers who diagnosed and interpreted test results while you were a patient. Pathologists, cardiologists, radiologists, anaesthesiologists and other specialists who perform these services and are required to submit separate bills.
