John Bryant, EdD, joined UNC Health Pardee in July 2022 as the organization's first Vice President of Workforce Development and Community Affairs. Dr. Bryant was tasked with developing and recruiting a qualified workforce to the health care system, which includes the only comprehensive cancer center in Henderson County, four urgent care locations, four orthopedic clinics, and a physician practice network with more than 350 physicians representing over 50 medical specialties and nearly 140 providers representing 25 allied health areas. His efforts focused on the cultivation of key partnerships within education to develop additional pathways to future careers in healthcare.

In October 2023, Dr. Bryant was named Vice President for Operations and Supports Services.  In this role, he leads a wide range of teams that serve the daily operations the hospital and its clinical functions, including Human Resources, Strategic Planning, Capital Projects and Facility Development, Operational Excellence, Volunteer and Spiritual Care Services, and Marketing and Communications.

Bryant most recently served as the Superintendent of Henderson County Public Schools (HCPS). Prior to that, he served HCPS as the Associate Superintendent for Administrative Services. His previous roles in education include Senior Director for Human Resources, elementary school principal, high school English teacher, and high school administrator. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development, on the Board of Trustees for Blue Ridge Community College, as a member of the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of the Henderson County Board of Public Health.

Bryant graduated from Elon University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Education, then went on to obtain his Master of Arts in School Administration from Gardner Webb University before pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Western Carolina University.
