Natascha Lautenschlaeger, MD

Chief of Staff

Natascha Lautenschlaeger, MD, a board-certified family medicine physician and hospitalist, has been Pardee UNC Health Care’s Chief of Staff since January 2021. In this role, she provides leadership, guidance and a voice for the medical staff of Pardee and contributes to an environment in which physicians are focused on delivering safe, high-quality and patient-centered care.

A member of the hospital’s staff since 2010, Dr. Lautenschlaeger is the first female, non-US national to hold the role of Chief of Staff at Pardee, a 222-bed hospital, complemented by a comprehensive cancer center, urgent care centers, six orthopedic clinics and a network of 341 physicians and 139 allied health providers. She also serves as the hospital’s first Chief Medical Informatics Officer, responsible for implementing technology that automates and improves clinical workflows and outcomes, as well as patient experience.

Prior to becoming Pardee’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Lautenschlaeger was assistant program director for the Hendersonville Family Medicine Residency. She still teaches other physicians and residents and presents nationally on topics related to family medicine. As Chief Medical Informatics Officer, she led the implementation of Epic, a system-wide electronic medical record, in 2016.

Dr. Lautenschlaeger earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina and completed her internship and residency at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. She also completed a fellowship in family medicine at the University of Utah Medical Center and earned a master’s degree in Public Health while there.

Dr. Lautenschlaeger has a musical performance background and enjoys playing the cello. She also possesses a passion for science fiction and hiking and is a novice acrobat.
