Steve Heatherly, MHA, MBA
Chief Operating Officer
Steve Heatherly joined Pardee UNC Health Care as Chief Operating Officer in October 2021. In this role, Heatherly oversees the daily operations and functions for Pardee, working to ensure that efficient services are delivered to meet the needs of its patients. Pardee UNC Health Care, the second-largest employer in Henderson County, includes a 222-bed acute care hospital, a comprehensive cancer center, urgent care centers, six orthopedic clinics, and a network of 341 physicians, representing 46 specialties, and 139 allied health providers.
Heatherly is an experienced hospital executive with deep ties to western North Carolina. Prior to joining Pardee, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital, presiding over an era of significant growth and expansion of services. He also held the positions of Chief Executive Officer of MedWest Physician Network, Executive Vice President (Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer) of WestCare Health System, and Chief Executive Officer of Mountain Neurological Center.
Heatherly received his Bachelor of Science in Financial Management from the University of North Carolina - Asheville. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Western Carolina University and his Master of Health Administration from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. He is a Certified Professional in Patient Safety and a Certified Medical Practice Executive.
Active in serving the communities in which he lives, Heatherly has been on a number of boards including the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, the Western North Carolina Health Network (serving as Chair), and the Great Smokies Health Foundation. Currently, he is a board member for Crescent Health Solutions and a member of the North Carolina Healthcare Association Political Action Committee.
