Pardee UNC Health Care Welcomes Board-Certified Interventional Cardiologist
Dr. Surjya Das

Pardee UNC Health Care announced today that Surjya Das, M.D., FACC, FSCAI, a board-certified interventional cardiologist, has joined Pardee Cardiology Associates, located at 709 N. Justice Street, Suite A. Dr. Das performs many interventional procedures, including cardiac catheterization to diagnose and treat heart disease, stenting, angiogram, angioplasty, and intravascular ultrasound. He also provides general and preventive cardiology care.

Dr. Das has dedicated more than 10 years of his medical career to serving our military and later spent 10 years in Williamsburg, Virginia, developing an award-winning community STEMI program. A STEMI is an ST-elevation myocardial infarction and is considered to be the most serious type of heart attack. In this type of heart attack, the heart’s major artery can become completely blocked, resulting in cardiac arrest and permanent muscle damage if the patient doesn’t receive treatment within the first few hours. Having a STEMI program in place like the one developed by Dr. Das in Virginia improves the patient’s chances of survival and can reduce muscle damage in the heart.

Dr. Das completed his medical degree at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York; his residency at the University of California, San Francisco; and his cardiology fellowships at the National Navy Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Das encourages his patients to be involved in their own healthcare and treats them as he would his own family. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, reading and traveling. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Das, call Pardee Cardiology Associates at 828-697-7377.
