Pardee UNC Health Care Prepared for Approaching Winter Storm

The hospital and ER operates 24/7 regardless of conditions.

Officials with Pardee UNC Health Care announced today that they activated their emergency operation plan (EOP) on Dec. 4 in preparation for the impending inclement weather forecasted to hit the region this weekend. In addition to staffing plans to address a potential increase in patient volumes, Pardee reports having essential supplies, equipment, medications, food and water to self-sustain operations for an extended period of time. The hospital has also prepared sleeping accommodations for team members to stay at the hospital while working during the inclement weather period.

“While the hospital prepares every day for unexpected events and patient volumes, we recognize that this winter weather is serious and our community will likely need our services in the coming days,” said Jay Kirby, president and CEO of Pardee UNC Health Care. “We are prepared and our team is ready.” The hospital encourages all residents to refill any medications that might be depleted during the storm duration, take safety precautions in advance of the weather and if at all possible, to remain at home during dangerous travel conditions. For unexpected non-emergent illnesses that might arise, UNC Health Care has a virtual care available and can be access at www.uncurgentcare247.com. Updates to any facility closings will be updated on the Pardee website (www.pardeehospital.org) and on social media.
