Pardee UNC Health Care Beginning Construction Projects
Main Entrance traffic-flow changes begin March 11
Pardee UNC Health Care will begin the next phase of several infrastructure projects at the hospital to improve the facility so that it can better serve the community. The roof replacement over the orthopedic wing, located adjacent to the main entrance off Justice Street, will begin Friday March 12th, lasting for the next two months. The traffic-flow changes include one way vehicle entry from Justice Street and vehicles exiting from the lower level of the garage to Fleming Street. Patients and visitors needing to re-enter the garage will be asked to detour using Fleming Street to 9th Avenue back to Justice Street. Visitors interested in self-parking are asked to enter the garage using the left lane. For valet or passenger drop-off, enter using the right lane.
“We recommend allowing extra time when planning your visit to the hospital to allow for potential construction-related traffic delays,” said Kris Peters, Vice President, Support Services and System Integration. “We also ask that visitors pay close attention to construction and directional signage in the entrances and the parking garage.”
During this period, some spaces of the hospital will be closed. The courtyard adjacent to the gift shop and orthopedic unit will be closed during the roof replacement. The corridor between the Orthopedic wing and Orchards Cafeteria, as well as the cafeteria courtyard will be closed for the first two weeks, March 12-March 28, of the project and again for two weeks later in the roof replacement project. The sidewalk adjacent to the Orthopedic wing and front entrance will be closed for the duration of the project.
