Pardee UNC Health Care Among Top 5 Percent of U.S. Hospitals for Outstanding Clinical Outcomes for 4 Years in a Row
Pardee UNC Health Care named to Healthgrades 2021 America’s 250 Best Hospitals
Pardee UNC Health Care has achieved the Healthgrades 2021 America’s 250 Best Hospitals Awards. The distinction places Pardee in the top five percent of nearly 4,5000 hospitals assessed nationwide for its superior clinical performance as measured by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians, and health systems. This is the fourth year in a row that Pardee has achieved this award.
“Pardee is committed to ensuring safe, quality care for all of our patients,” said Jay Kirby, president and CEO, Pardee UNC Health Care. “To maintain this distinction for four years is due to the hard work and contributions of our staff members and their dedication to serving our community.”
Recipients of the Healthgrades America’s 250 Best Hospital Award stand out among the rest for overall clinical excellence across a broad spectrum of care. During the 2021 study period (2017 through 2019), these hospitals showed superior performance in clinical outcomes for patients in the Medicate population across at least 21 of 32 most common inpatient condition and procedures – as measured by objective performance data (risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications).
In the 2021 model year, patient treated in hospitals achieving the award had, on average, a 27% lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award, as measured across 19 rated conditions and procedures for which mortality is the outcome. *
During that same period, if all hospitals performed similarly to those achieving the Healthgrades America’s 250 Best Hospitals Award, more than 165,000 Medicare lives could have potentially been saved.
