Pardee UNC Health Care Welcomes Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Erik Olsson

Pardee UNC Health Care announced today that Erik Olsson, M.D., a board-certified and fellowship-trained spine surgeon, has joined Southeastern Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, a department of Pardee. Dr. Olsson specializes in all disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He has special interest in complex cervical reconstruction and non-fusion alternatives, including cervical disc replacement.

Dr. Olsson is the latest spine surgeon to be trained to use Pardee’s robotic guidance and navigation platform. With this technology, spine procedures may result in less blood loss, less muscle damage, and faster recovery. In addition, it provides improved visualization of patient anatomy throughout the procedure to help optimize patient treatment.

He earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at University of North Carolina Hospitals. He then pursued a fellowship in spine surgery at The Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Olsson will see patients at all six Southeastern Sports Medicine and Orthopedics locations and is accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment, call 828-274-4555.
