Certified Medical Assistant Heather Martindale Named Teammate of the Month
for UNC Health Pardee
UNC Health Pardee has announced Heather Martindale, a certified medical assistant (CMA), as its Teammate of the Month. As a CMA with Carolina Lung and Sleep at Pardee, Martindale is responsible for working with patients to prepare them for the visit with their provider, ordering medications, administering vaccinations, keeping supplies stocked, and other administrative duties.
Martindale earned her CMA license in 2021 and joined the organization a few months after being certified. “I wanted to find a place where I could advance in my new career and Pardee was a great fit for me to gain experience in a professional environment,” Martindale said. She shared that her favorite part of her job is assisting in patient care and helping to make a small difference in someone’s life. Her colleagues shared that Heather is a pleasure to work with and comes to work each day with a smile and a positive attitude. “Heather has provided an excellent example of teamwork that encourages other staff to follow and her willingness to help others inspires everyone to do the same, helping things run more smoothly,” her coworker said. Those who nominated Martindale added that “her precise attention to detail regarding patients helps them feel seen, heard and truly cared for which is very important.”
The Teammate of the Month award is given to a Pardee employee who positively contributes to achieving the organization’s mission, vision and goals. This person is selected by a committee of their peers and recognized for going above and beyond their regular duties to support patients, customers, peers, the organization and its community. The Teammate of the Month award showcases the many different roles of keeping a health system, like Pardee, operating and delivering patient-centered, quality care.
UNC Health Pardee is a not-for-profit community healthcare system managed by UNC Health. The hospital, founded in 1953, is licensed for 222 acute care beds.
