Security Officer Josh Austin Named Teammate of the Month for UNC Health Pardee

UNC Health Pardee has announced Josh Austin, a security officer, as its Teammate of the Month. As a shift leader, Austin is responsible for ensuring the overall safety of staff and patients. Josh Austin

Austin began as a security officer with Pardee in June 2022 and has moved up the ranks to be a shift leader. He said he chose to work for Pardee because he was looking for an organization with an ever-changing work environment. He said he found that at Pardee, sharing that no two days are ever the same. His colleagues said that he exudes leadership and teamwork, “Josh is always willing to step in and help whenever there is a need.” Austin said his favorite part of this job is the comradery with his coworkers and ensuring things go as smoothly and safely as possible when he is on shift. Those who nominated him describe Austin as patient and compassionate, two qualities that are critical in a high-stress role.

The Teammate of the Month award is given to a Pardee team member who positively contributes to achieving the organization’s mission, vision and goals. This person is selected by a committee of their peers and recognized for going above and beyond their regular duties to support patients, customers, peers, the organization and its community. The Teammate of the Month award showcases the many different roles of keeping a health system, like Pardee, operating and delivering patient-centered, quality care.

UNC Health Pardee is a not-for-profit community healthcare system managed by UNC Health. The hospital, founded in 1953, is licensed for 222 acute care beds. Pardee has several locations separate from the main campus, including a comprehensive physician practice network, a cancer center, four urgent care locations and six orthopedic clinics.
