Oriana Bakken, EPIC Optimization Specialist, Training and Support for the Physician Network, has been named Pardee's Team Member of the Month. Bakken helps staff move through the workflow in the electronic medical record system, Epic@UNC, by finding the most efficient and accurate pathway to get the job done and then teaches the team who needs to perform the jobs.

Bakken began working for Pardee in 2016 and says her favorite part of her job is helping her peers use Epic@UNC in the best ways possible. She shared, “Seeing their smile of acknowledgment that they understand the workflow and feel empowered to do their best fills me up.” Bakken is grateful that this role has helped her discover talents she never thought she had, “growing up, I never thought I was or would be a teacher, much less enjoy it but I have found my voice as a leader.”

Her teammates describe her as supportive and helpful saying, "Oriana works tirelessly to support the ambulatory users of Epic@UNC and the staff looks to her for guidance and leadership to help them understand the specifics of their workflow.” She has developed the workflow and training utilized throughout the organization, allowing new team members to become proficient in their roles faster, and helping provide superior care to the community.

The Team Member of the Month award is given to a Pardee team member who positively contributes to achieving the organization’s mission, vision and goals. This person is selected by a committee of their peers and recognized for going above and beyond their regular duties to support patients, customers, peers, the organization and its community. The Team Member of the Month award showcases the many different roles of keeping a health system, like Pardee, operating and delivering patient-centered, quality care.
