Pardee UNC Health Care has named Joel Callahan, M.D., FAAN, a board-certified neurologist, as chief of staff. In this role, Dr. Callahan will provide leadership, guidance and a voice for medical staff, as well as create a dynamic physician environment committed to high-quality, patient-focused care and safety. Callahan’s two-year term as Chief of Staff began Jan. 1, 2023.

Dr. Callahan is a board-certified neurologist who specializes in treating headaches, neuropathy, EMG/EEG, epilepsy, diseases of muscles, dementia, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke and spasticity. He earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in neurology at the University of Colorado Hospital. He is also fellowship-trained in neuromuscular disease. Dr. Callahan has been with Pardee since 2011, most recently serving as the medical director of Pardee Neurology Associates.
