Pardee UNC Health Care has announced Tara Benson, RN, BSN a clinical review specialist, as its Team Member of the Month. As a clinical review specialist in the pre-arrival unit, Benson is responsible for reviewing and processing all required procedures promptly and efficiently to clear patients before their scheduled event.

 Benson grew up in rural Nebraska and relied on a local community health system for her healthcare needs. Seeing the value in having quality healthcare accessible to smaller communities that often lack access to larger systems, Benson was grateful for the opportunity to relocate to Hendersonville and work for Pardee. “I wanted to work for a healthcare system that invests in its community – much like what I grew up with. Working at Pardee feels like I’m giving back on some level.”

Benson said her favorite part of her job is growing her knowledge by working on a different side of healthcare, “I get to use my clinical experience to help get medication treatments approved for patients.” Her teammates say, “Tara goes above and beyond to assist patients with their care and double-checks her patients so she can ensure nothing stops their treatment plan.” Tara is described as an asset to her team because she is always willing to help a coworker in need and happy to assist with whatever is needed. Her colleagues shared, “Tara’s impact has made the team happier because she is fantastic at communication and getting tasks handled in a timely fashion.” They also expressed that Benson’s past experience as a charge nurse has been helpful in navigating her job role and she is always trying to help improve the department by sharing information with the entire team when she learns something new.

The Team Member of the Month award is given to a Pardee team member who positively contributes to achieving the organization’s mission, vision and goals. This person is selected by a committee of their peers and recognized for going above and beyond their regular duties to support patients, customers, peers, the organization and its community. The Team Member of the Month award showcases the many different roles of keeping a health system, like Pardee, operating and delivering patient-centered, quality care.
