Registered Nurse Betsy Cosgrove Named Teammate of the Month for UNC Health Pardee

UNC Health Pardee has announced Betsy Cosgrove, RN, who works as a registered nurse with Pardee OB/GYN Associates, as its Teammate of the Month. In her role, Cosgrove ensures proper execution of fetal monitoring, surgery scheduling, ordering specialty medications, insurance approvals, managing appointments and labs, and triaging patients, among other duties.

Beginning her career in the labor and delivery department at Pardee Hospital, Cosgrove has practiced as a nurse with Pardee for nearly 40 years. She transitioned into working with former Pardee Chief Medical Officer, Dr. David Ellis when he was practicing as an OBGYN and held that role for almost 30 years. When Dr. Ellis retired, Cosgrove joined the team at Pardee OB/GYN Associates and is described by her colleagues as indispensable. “Betsy remembers nearly every patient by name and her example inspires others to rise to her level of accountability and excellent patient care by always putting patients first,” her coworker shared. Her colleagues say Pardee is a better place with Betsy on board expressing that, “she works diligently and spends effort to ensure each patient is cared for and extra time is taken to make sure no one leaves feeling unheard.”

The Teammate of the Month award is given to a Pardee employee who positively contributes to achieving the organization’s mission, vision and goals. This person is selected by a committee of their peers and recognized for going above and beyond their regular duties to support patients, customers, peers, the organization and its community. The Teammate of the Month award showcases the many different roles of keeping a health system, like Pardee, operating and delivering patient-centered, quality care.
