UNC Health Pardee Expands Primary Care Network with Addition of Two Physicians to Pardee BlueMD
UNC Health Pardee continues to expand its primary care network by adding two new family medicine physicians to practices in Henderson and Buncombe counties. John Asenjo, DO, joins the team of providers at Pardee BlueMD - 611 5th Ave. West in Hendersonville and Bailey Balentine, DO, will see patients at Pardee BlueMD - 2775 Hendersonville Rd. in Arden. With the addition of these providers, Pardee is ensuring that high-quality, accessible care is available to even more communities in Western North Carolina.
Dr. Asenjo’s approach to patient care is founded on the principles of compassion, inclusivity, and empowerment. “My experiences have instilled in me a relentless drive to bridge the gaps of socioeconomic and cultural barriers and to advocate for the health of all individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances,” said Dr. Asenjo. He prioritizes a thorough and empathetic history-taking process and understands each patient’s story is unique. “By building a trusting relationship, I can gather the subjective information necessary to inform a comprehensive and personalized care plan,” he explained. He has a special interest in lifestyle medicine and works to educate his patients about lifestyle changes to help them take control of their health and reduce reliance on medication when possible. When not seeing patients, Dr. Asenjo enjoys reading, volunteering, traveling, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Dr. Balentine chose Pardee for its long history of providing compassionate care and service to Western North Carolina. As a family medicine physician, she said her favorite part of her job is getting to know her patients over years of visits. “I get to celebrate my patients’ achievements in their wellness and help guide them through some of the most difficult times in their life,” Dr. Balentine shared. “Being someone’s primary care physician means earning a patient’s trust over time and working as a team to achieve their health goals.” Dr. Balentine wants her patients to know that her goal is to be a source of information, motivation and guidance in her patients’ wellness journey. “I am here to help and I want you to always feel free to be honest with me so that we can work together as a team.” Dr. Balentine enjoys hiking the mountains of WNC with her husband and twin sons, searching out waterfalls, and exploring lakes and rivers.
Each Pardee BlueMD practice is a Federally Qualified Health Center, in partnership with Blue Ridge Health, and a subrecipient of their FQHC status. This status allows both Pardee and Blue Ridge Health the ability to more ardently pursue innovation in reducing gaps in care, creating a more seamless delivery model, and improving patient outcomes. Each practice provides comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary healthcare services to all patients, regardless of ability to pay, particularly in the most vulnerable and underserved populations. Pardee BlueMD serves patients throughout Buncombe, Henderson and Transylvania counties.
