UNC Health Pardee Ranked No. 1 in North Carolina for Stroke Care, No. 2 for Critical Care; Named as One of America’s 100 Best Hospitals

UNC Health Pardee has earned top accolades for clinical performance including being ranked No.1 in North Carolina for Stroke Care for a second consecutive year, being ranked No. 2 in North Carolina for Critical Care, being named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for the third year in a row and named one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals for the seventh consecutive year. These awards are presented based on research released by Healthgrades, the leading resource patients use to find a provider.
These achievements reflect Pardee’s commitment to delivering the best care possible and distinguish the organization as North Carolina’s leading hospital for Stroke and Critical Care, including treatment for pulmonary embolism, respiratory system failure, sepsis and diabetic emergencies. “Pardee is deeply committed to providing our community with the highest quality care and is proud to receive such high esteem from Healthgrades,” said James M. Kirby, II, president and CEO, UNC Health Pardee. “These achievements are the direct result of the commitment of our staff and their dedication to the culture of how we approach patient care. At Pardee, it’s about doing the right thing for the right patient, every time.”
Healthgrades evaluates hospitals solely on what matters most–patient outcomes–to determine the top-performing hospitals for specialty care in each of the 32 states assessed. Healthgrades’ 2024 analysis revealed that patients who seek care at a hospital with rankings in their condition or procedure have a better chance of a good outcome than if they are treated at a facility that is not #1 in North Carolina. This widening performance gap highlights the importance of selecting a top-rated program. In fact, from 2020 to 2022, patients treated at hospitals that received a state ranking for Stroke Care had, on average, a 37.7% lower risk of dying than if they were treated at hospitals that were not state-ranked for Stroke Care.*
