Bariatric Outreach and Care Coordinator Julie Hensley Named Teammate of the Month for UNC Health Pardee
UNC Health Pardee has announced Julie Hensley, Outreach and Care Coordinator for Pardee Bariatrics and General Surgery, as its Teammate of the Month. In her role, Hensley helps guide patients through their care journey, provides education and support, and contributes to the overall patient experience through compassionate service and attention to detail.
Hensley joined Pardee nearly three years ago, drawn to the organization’s values and the strong sense of community within a smaller healthcare setting. “Pardee’s values align closely with my own,” she said. “I love the sense of community that Pardee offers.”
Known for her willingness to go the extra mile, Hensley has expanded her responsibilities to better support both patients and her team. Over the past year, she has learned front desk operations to provide coverage when needed, assisted with referral processing during times of limited staffing, and taken the lead in hosting orientation and patient learning sessions.
Her colleagues describe her as a true example of what ‘One Great Team’ means. As Bariatric Outreach and Care Coordinator, Hensley supports patients from initial education to pre- and post-operative care. “My favorite part of the job is seeing the transformation of our patients, not just physically, but emotionally and mentally,” she said. “It’s rewarding to know I play a part in helping our patients reclaim their health and confidence.”
The Teammate of the Month award is given to a Pardee employee who positively contributes to achieving the organization’s mission, vision and goals. This person is selected by a committee of their peers and recognized for going above and beyond their regular duties to support patients, customers, peers, the organization and its community. The Teammate of the Month award showcases the many different roles of keeping a health system, like Pardee, operating and delivering patient-centered, quality care.
