House Supervisor Teresa Nicholson Named Teammate of the Month for UNC Health Pardee

Teresa Nicholson, RNUNC Health Pardee has announced Teresa Nicholson, RN, who works as the house supervisor for nursing, as its Teammate of the Month. In her role, Nicholson manages patient bed flow and staffing decisions, provides patient care, and serves as a resource to nurses and providers to ensure the hospital functions properly.

A Henderson County native, Nicholson said there was no other place she wanted to work than her local hospital. She began her nursing career with Pardee as a new graduate in 2001 in the Medical Surgical Oncology (MSO) unit where she worked for five years. She transitioned to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and treated patients for 14 years before moving into her current role as house supervisor. “The best part of my job is knowing I am truly part of my community hospital family and not just a number,” Nicholson said. “Throughout my career, I have been a part of tears, smiles, prayers, laughter, weddings, hurricanes, and funerals. I am so honored to call Pardee ‘my home’.” Those who nominated her describe Teresa as compassionate, a great caregiver, and dedicated to her job. Recalling a delicate and difficult situation, her colleagues shared, “Teresa should be recognized for the ingenuity, time, care, and compassion she showed this family.”

The Teammate of the Month award is given to a Pardee employee who positively contributes to achieving the organization’s mission, vision and goals. This person is selected by a committee of their peers and recognized for going above and beyond their regular duties to support patients, customers, peers, the organization and its community. The Teammate of the Month award showcases the many different roles of keeping a health system, like Pardee, operating and delivering patient-centered, quality care.
