Pardee Cancer Center Nurse Angela Cathcart Named Teammate of the Month for UNC Health Pardee
UNC Health Pardee has named Angela Cathcart, registered nurse with the Radiation Oncology department at Pardee Cancer Center, as its Teammate of the Month. In her role, Cathcart provides expert care and education to patients undergoing radiation treatment, offering compassion and support every step of the way.
Cathcart joined Pardee four years ago after more than three decades at another healthcare system. “I chose to come here for the community and life-work balance Pardee provides,” she said. “It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself and my family.”
Known for her calm presence and deep knowledge of radiation therapy, Cathcart is quick to recognize when something isn’t right and takes action to ensure patients receive timely care. Her colleagues describe her as dependable, thoughtful, and always willing to go the extra mile. “She makes sure all the details are in place so patients can be seen and treated on time,” said one nominator. “She even walks them to their next appointments to ensure a smooth handoff.”
As a cancer survivor herself, Cathcart brings a personal connection to her work. “I desire to make every patient feel empathy, compassion, and support,” she said. “And I’m proud to be part of a team that truly feels like family.”
The Teammate of the Month award is given to a Pardee employee who positively contributes to achieving the organization’s mission, vision and goals. This person is selected by a committee of their peers and recognized for going above and beyond their regular duties to support patients, customers, peers, the organization and its community. The Teammate of the Month award showcases the many different roles of keeping a health system, like Pardee, operating and delivering patient-centered, quality care.
