UNC Health Pardee Expanding Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Services with the Addition of New Providers

Shawn BonsellUNC Health Pardee is expanding its orthopedic and sports medicine network with the addition of three new surgeons to Pardee Orthopedics and Sports Medicine – Shawn Bonsell, MD, Jack Graham, MD, and Charles Long, MD. This expansion underscores Pardee’s commitment to offering comprehensive, patient-centered care to the community.

A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Bonsell specializes in treating sports-related injuries using arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery, including ligament reconstruction and cartilage repair, and tendon and fracture repair of the knee. “My goal for patient care is to develop a treatment strategy tailored to each individual or athlete,” said Dr. Bonsell. “I strive to help my patients by facilitating a timely and safe return to activity and sports.” When not seeing patients, Dr. Bonsell enjoys biking, running, swimming, triathlon training, traveling with his wife, and restoring classic cars with his sons. He will be practicing at the 21 Turtle Creek Drive location in Asheville and 35 Valley View Terrace in Waynesville.

Jack GrahamDr. Graham is fellowship-trained in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery. He focuses on surgical and non-surgical management of traumatic injuries, degenerative conditions like arthritis, sports injuries, and peripheral nerve disorders affecting the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder in adults and youth. “Since hand and arm conditions can severely impact quality of life and function, I collaborate with my patients to develop an individualized treatment plan that best suits their needs,” Dr. Graham said. “Using the latest evidence-based treatments available, my goal is to provide tangible solutions and help my patients return to the activities they enjoy.” When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Graham enjoys spending time with his wife and dog, golfing, hiking, and attending live music events. Dr. Graham will see patients at 21 Turtle Creek Drive in Asheville and 212 Thompson Street in Hendersonville.

Charles LongDr. Long is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement, with specific training in the anterior approach for total hip replacement, primary hip and knee arthroplasty, and revision for hip and knee arthroplasty. “Hip and knee arthritis is incredibly debilitating, and I am glad to be able to restore my patients’ joints to help them return to a healthy, active lifestyle,” Dr. Long said. “I want patients and caregivers to know that we are always available to walk alongside them, whether through non-surgical solutions or through hip and knee replacements, ensuring they continue to enjoy their life, pain-free.” Outside of his practice, he enjoys family time with his wife and two daughters, as well as rock climbing and mountain biking.  Dr. Long will see patients at 21 Turtle Creek Drive in Asheville, 212 Thompson Street in Hendersonville, and 316 Chestnut Street in Brevard.
