UNC Health Pardee Welcomes Neurologist Dr. Hannah Machemehl
UNC Health Pardee is pleased to welcome Hannah Machemehl, MD, to its respected team of health care providers at Pardee Neurology Associates. Dr. Machemehl has a special interest in treating patients with neuromuscular disorders, including Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), as well as electrodiagnostic testing or EMG nerve conduction testing. With her extensive expertise and commitment to patient care, Dr. Machemehl will enhance Pardee’s ability to provide comprehensive treatment and support for individuals affected by neuromuscular conditions.
Dr. Machemehl, board-certified in neurology, neuromuscular neurology, and electrodiagnostic medicine, said she chose Pardee because she felt connected with the culture and mission of the highest quality patient-centered care in a non-profit setting. “Pardee offers an opportunity to join a group of smart and dedicated neurologists and improve access to neuromuscular specialty care in western North Carolina,” she said. Dr. Machemehl thoroughly enjoys the problem-solving aspect of neurology, sharing “It is a unique specialty where we see a wide breadth of conditions in young and old, acute and chronic, and minor to life-changing diseases.” She added that she is encouraged by the research and changing treatments in neurology and her subspecialty, neuromuscular diseases.
Dr. Machemehl said she is excited to get to know patients and their families, both as human beings and in the context of neurological care. “I consider treating patients to be a privilege and look forward to working with all aspects of the health system to optimize care for patients and the community.” When she is not seeing patients, Dr. Machemehl enjoys spending time outdoors with her dogs and children and exploring places both locally and abroad.
