UNC Health Pardee Adds Specialized Physical Therapy Services to Support Cancer Patients
UNC Health Pardee is expanding its comprehensive cancer care services with the addition of on-site physical therapy at its cancer center. Pardee Physical Therapy, A Department of Pardee Hospital (Oncology Rehab), is opening a specialized rehabilitation space designed to support patients throughout treatment and recovery. Located at 805 6th Ave West, Suite 100, on the second floor of Pardee Cancer Center, the new department will officially open on April 27. By bringing these services together under one roof, UNC Health Pardee is making it easier for patients to access specialized care as part of their routine cancer treatment visits.
This dedicated oncology rehabilitation program will offer physical therapy services tailored specifically to the needs of cancer patients. A key focus of the program is the treatment of lymphedema, both upper and lower extremity, as well as improving upper extremity mobility, particularly for patients undergoing or recovering from radiation and breast cancer treatments.
“This new space allows us to better support our patients’ quality of life during and after cancer treatment,” said Dr. John Hill, medical director, hematology, oncology and cancer research, Pardee Cancer Center. “By integrating rehabilitation services directly into the cancer care continuum, we are removing barriers and ensuring patients receive the comprehensive, coordinated care they deserve.”
The facility includes newly outfitted treatment rooms designed specifically for oncology rehabilitation, made possible in part through funding from Pardee Hospital Foundation that supported the expansion and enhancement of on-site services.
The addition of oncology rehab services reflects UNC Health Pardee’s ongoing commitment to broadening its cancer care offerings and meeting the evolving needs of patients. These services are especially critical for breast cancer patients and others experiencing side effects such as swelling, reduced mobility, and functional limitations as a result of treatment.
